Vinhuset NoFra AS

Vinhuset NoFra AS, was established in February 1997 by Nicolas Mahé de Berdouaré. 

We specialize in quality wines, and “best buy” wines from family producers.  

With new shareholders (50%) from 2006, Nicolas Mahé de Berdouaré (50%) and his team have been developing Vinhuset NoFra to be one of the leading companies among 800 other wine importers in Norway. 

We are the market leader in sales of rosé wine, sweet wine and Bordeaux wines. We sell 92% to the Norwegian wine monopoly and 8% to duty-free and off-trade.

We are working in longterm relationship with our suppliers, and are now working with e.g. Champagne Drappier, Domaine de Chevalier, Domaine de Montrose (Languedoc), Alphonse Mellot (Sancerre), Château de la Gardine, Celene Bordeaux, Maison Schroder & Schyler, Maison Hebrard and many more.

The three types of customers: 

1. Private consumers through the Norwegian wine monopoly
2. Duty-free directly, Svalbard and embassies
3. Off-trade customers through wholesalers, HORECA 
 

The logistics partner

The Norwegian importers can choose between different logistics partners: Cuveco, Vectura, Scanlog (ex VSD), Trébuchet and others. Cuveco and Vectura are the 2 biggest logistics partners in Norway.
 
We have been in co-operation with Cuveco since 2004.

Logistics

Cuveco is responsible for the import to Norway, from the producers and to all our Norwegian customers, all over Norway.
 
Economy, accounting and IT

Cuveco delivers all IT support and software. Sale forecasts, stock reports, accounting, sale statistics, CRM and office programs.

 
Vinhuset NoFra focuses 100% on the business side, choosing the right selection, increasing sales, good  promotion, and the marketing of your products. 
We travel all over Norway and attend tastings with the Cuveco group. In addition we do local and regional tastings with other wholesalers, for the wine monopoly’s shops every week, all year.
Twice a year we take part in the big tastings arranged by the wine monopoly.  For the consumer market we do several tastings, including private wine clubs, local wine festivals, and all kinds of companies. 
 

The wine monopoly (Vinmonopolet)  

The wine monopoly in Norway was established in 1922 and since the first of January 1996, the wine monopoly has not imported any bottles, but remained as the sole distributor to private consumers.
With 340 outlets in total in the beginning of 2023, it covers large parts of Norway, divided into 6 different categories (category 1 has the smallest outlets, and category 6 has the largest outlets with 
2 250 products).
35 000 different products are now available in the “ordering” selection.
 

4 ways to sell wine to the wine monopoly:

1. Tenders: 6 times a year it’s possible to deliver tenders to the wine monopoly to the “one lot sale” or to the “basic selection”.
2. Test selection: We can choose one product for a test launch every second year .
3. Ordering selection : (35 000 products in January 2023). 

4. Special selection: 12 different shops in Norway in January 2023.

Nicolas Mahé de Berdouaré

Marchand de vins, is a French/Norwegian – Bordeaux/Bergen, wine importer based in Oslo since 1997. 

He started the first wine bar in Norway, which was elected in the press as the best establishment in 1995. 

Nicolas was appointed by the French State as a “Chevalier du Mérite Agricole” as the youngest ever since Napoléon the third.
Vinhuset NoFra received the high valued price as ”The Company of the year 2012” from the French-Norwegian chamber of commerce.

Nicolas has written 3 books about wine: “Drømmer du nok”, “Vin det er livet” and ”Vindunderlig”. ”Vin det er livet”was chosen as one of the 3 best Norwegian wine books of all time.

We are proud of beeing sponsor of the Bordeaux Rugby Team (UBB) since 2017, as the only foreign sponsor in the TOP 14 championship!
For the past 10 years, Nicolas has participated in Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB). In Switzerland in 2019, he got a very pleasant surprice, he was voted ”Benchmark’s taster of the year”.
 

Hanne G.Hagen

Administration and marketing manager. Has worked for Vinhuset NoFra since 2004. Extensive experience in marketing, brand building and PR, in the retail 
and B2B markets.
